Keys to Consistency

Tips to keeping things consistent in your kitchen

It’s often very difficult to ensure consistency in the kitchen, but here are a few tips to keeping things consistent in your kitchen.

  • Use Rainbow Chickens Pieces as they’re prepared, portioned and packaged consistently – and make sure to use the guidelines on the packaging to prep your chicken for cooking.
  • When cooking batches of chicken, use similarly-sized pieces so that they all cook at roughly the same speed. If the pieces are different sizes, use a meat thermometer to check when smaller pieces are done and then remove from the heat.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken has reached the desired internal temperature.
  • Use a timer and stick to the same cooking times every day.
  • Mix up your spice mixes and sauces in bulk if you cook chicken at a high volume – this ensures that the chicken will taste the same every day. When mixing up your spices and sauces, make sure that you record the exact measurements to ensure consistency.
  • Prepare and cook as far in advance as possible. This will allow you time to ensure that each piece of chicken is cooked perfectly.
  • Keep an eye on all stages of the cooking process so that you can adjust before service. Once service hits, make sure that everything that leaves the kitchen is up to your standard.
